Deadmau5- The Veldt (Shane Martz Remix)

Check out the brand new Shane Martz remix to Deadmau5', The Veldt. A very chilled out, progressive take on the song and I like it. There are a couple of dub wobbles mixed into a mainly electronic track giving it a very similar vibe to the original. Well done Shane, looking forward to the summer releases ahead!

Isis- Seven Lions

I love how this track has the feel of an Arabian evening, with the snake charmer sound that is followed by some dirty dubstep wobble in it as well! Seven Lions is a less well known producer from Lompoc, California, but crazy talented and worth checking out! His music is classified as "deep, soulful, hybridized creations".

Daily Dirty Dub 36.0 Delta Heavy & DRVGS

Fixers - Iron Deer Dream (Delta Heavy Remix)

A nice, chilled out mellow dubstep tune coming from Delta Heavy that they did back in March. Only heard this remix to Fixers, Iron Deer Dream a few hours ago and I love it. The vibe is easy and Heavy makes it pop! Enjoy :)

DVBBS - DRVGS ft Hayley Gene

This track starts off with a really creepy vibe, even more so if you watch the YouTube video, however when the beat drops, it picks up and leads to a great dubstep hit. Hayley Gene has a beautiful tone and the drops are hard-hitting and unique in style and sound.

Daily Dirty Dub 35.0 SAVOY & Heather Bright - We Are The Sun (SAVOY Remix)

Hard hitting dubstep with uplifting, cheery vocals? If you’ve read many of my posts, you’ll know I gravitate towards these types of songs. We are the Sun (Savoy remix) is no different. Savoy takes his own track, and dubs it out with great drops and sexy synths.

Disaster (Sidney Samson Remix)

Okay, I’m not one to endorse listening to Jojo under any circumstances... but this is an exception. Sidney Samson’s remix of Disaster is actually unreal. I can’t stop listening to it, and the pop feel gives it a new vibe, with a classic Samson feel as well. Hope you enjoy it!

Sunday FunDay Part 5: feat. Felix Cartal & Calvin Harris

Felix Cartal dropped his new album, Different Faces, about a month ago, and I am definitely feeling s it. His track with Miss Palmer titled Black to White showcases some beautiful vocals and a great chord progression that gets stuck in your head all day long.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything new from Calvin Harris, but this remix of alt rock/pop artist Scissor Sister’s, “Only the Horses” is well worth the wait. There’s a true Calvin Harris feel to it, but the pop/rock vocals are a really cool and unique touch to his classic style.

I hope you all had a good weekend!

Diamond In the Rough: Spotlight Feature - ClassAct (New Original & Interview)

This weeks Spotlight Feature brings an absolute favourite of mine. Allow me to formally introduce you to ClassAct. He's progressive, he's unique, and most of all, he pumps out amazing work through a spectrum of genres! About a week ago, ClassAct released his original mix, Alone, which is a dark, mysterious dubstep song that is quite incredible. The song leaves me with shivers pretty much every time I listen to it. He has a very unique sound with this track and I love it. Mellow dubstep at its finest. Also, enjoy an interview I did with Jordan this past week. We talk his new identity, his newer sounds, and what the future holds for this amazingly talented young man. Check out his latest track, Alone, and and the interview below!

Enjoy,

ClassAct? New name? New man? How did that come to be?

Since the beginning of my career, I've been under the name Rockwell. I had a few releases on "BedroomRecords09", a label out of Romania, and a few remixes that became pretty popular. I wasn't content with sharing the same name as other Rockwell artists, and it got to the point where our releases were clashing under the same name on Beatport and iTunes. I wanted a name that was iconic and noticeable - I thought ClassAct sounded just right.

How would you describe your style of music?

At this point in my career, I've been trying almost every genre. I like to find my influences from various genres and incorporating it into 'EDM' to make something new and different. I've been consistently making house and electronic music, but I'm going to be releasing some tracks that don't necessarily fall into that category.

How long have you been producing for?

I've been producing music since the age of 12. I started recording sounds with an 8 track recorder, and soon ventured into using computer software. I got serious about producing in high school, and started using Ableton - I don't think I'll ever find a program better than Ableton. It's the best.

What is your favourite crowd you have ever played for?

I played at the Guvernment at the start of this year for U of T's frosh event. I couldn't believe how many people showed up, it really blew my mind. Half of my set was my own material, and they loved it. I even crowd surfed a few times. One of the best nights of my life.

When can we expect more amazing music from you?

It probably seems like I haven't been releasing much this year, but I have a ton of tracks that I'm really eager to finish and give out. I'll be releasing a single in the next week or so, and after that I hope to release a few per month over the summer. Big stuff coming soon. Moombahton.

What is your favourite drink (alcoholic)?

It's the name of my next single, Bombay.

What is your greatest accomplishment in the music industry?

I think I'd have to say the success of my 'Video Games' remix. I remember seeing my remix on thissongissick.com with 20,000 hits in less than a day. I legitimately couldn't believe it - I missed my class that day and just went to the studio and worked on new stuff. It gave me the motivation to keep making music. It's an awesome feeling to know that hard work pays off. It's currently sitting at around 100,000 views. I still can't believe it.

Do you have any shows lined up for the near future?

As of now, I'm really focusing on producing and making a sound for myself. I've got some local shows in Toronto, and hopefully in London in the near future. I'm still at the point where I love spinning in crammed basements and just going hard. Any show is worth it.

What are your plans for ClassAct in the future?

I love to work with different artists and collaborate. I think I'll always make music.

Do you want this to be forever?

If it was my choice, I would devote my whole life to making music. I would love to have the chance to travel and play for crowds around the world.

Tiesto & Mark Knight feat. Dino - Beautiful World (Laidback Luke Remix)

Though we’ve been teased with parts of this remix since late 2011, it has only had its official release now. Tiësto and Mark Knight do it up right with the original and Laidback Luke turns the track into a big room tech house remix that’s sure to drop in a lot of clubs and shows in the near future. Not to mention the vocals are catchy and sure to get you singing for hours on end.

Nelly Furtado - Big Hoops (Michael Woods Remix)

Michael Woods has become one of my top artists, since seeing him with Chris Lake this past April in London, Ontario. His remix of Nelly Furtado’s “Big Hoops” really does show that the bigger, the better, as it’s, big sound, big drop, big hit. Furtado kills it as always, and her sound meshes perfectly with Woods’s style.

Sunday Funday Urban Dictionary: By celebrating the "Sunday Funday" you can extend your weekend festivities just a little longer before hanging up your party pants! Hope everyone had an awesome weekend!

Daily Dirty Dub 32.0 - Lights - Everybody Breaks A Glass (Dead Battery Remix)

We featured Dead Battery's Spring Mix about a month ago and ever since I've been checking out all of his originals and remixes.'Everybody Breaks a Glass' is an original by Canadian talent, Lights. It is a synth-pop, new wave track that has all the potential to be a dubstep hit. And Dead Battery did just that! With its filthy drops and unreal lyrical hooks, Dead Battery just made another pop song a lot better. Check it below and enjoy. Free download below.

Stop It (Crookers Remix)- Theophilus London

This chill song has been remixed by the one and only Crookers and there’s legitimately nothing bad I can say about it. Theophilus rocks his rap verse and Crookers comes in and drops it hard. The mash of rap and electro is big right now, and Crookers executes perfectly. This track is definitely going to be big as it brings two sick artists together to create a masterpiece of new sound!

Daily Dirty Dub 31.0 - Figure & The Killabits - Heavy Metal

Maybe I should have saved this for the celebratory 30th Daily Dirty Dub because this song out of control filthy! The Killabits & Figure teamed up for their latest dubtastic release, Heavy Metal, and let me tell you, it's HEAVY! Not really much else to say other then the production is top quality and the drops are dirty as f**k. What are you waiting for, press play already!

Brand New: Laidback Luke feat Martel- We Are The Stars

When Laidback Luke tweeted about his new song this morning, I searched for it immediately. Being one of my favourite artists to listen to and to see live, I was so excited! He teamed up with Martel to make a true dance hit. The vocals are catchy and the synths are perfect. When I think of last summer I think of Seek Bromance. There’s a part of me, no all of me that knows that when I think of this summer, I’m going to think of We are the Stars.

SPACE IBIZA FESTIVAL TORONTO 2012 feat. UMEK, PLEASUREKRAFT, JAY LUMEN & Many More!

This is truly the summer of festivals, and we at Social Talk could only dream about making it to every single one.  We are very happy to announce that Social Talk and Vibrations present Space Ibiza Festival June 9th, 2012 at the Sound Academy!!! Travelling from across the world, this DJ Mag number 1 rated Club is bringing its sounds and style to Toronto for the second time.

Featuring an international line up, the Space Ibiza Festival is definitely not one to miss... Here’s a preview of the lineup to be expected!

Umek: Being one of the top headliners of this festival, Umek is sure to bring the house down. With a techno vibe, his feel is extremely European and a name no one can forget. All the way from Slovenia, he tears it up with tracks such as my personal favourite, Freak it Out.

Also hitting the stage is Pleasurekraft who recently spun at Cobra Toronto, and will be sure to drop some dirty beats. His music is techno and trance infused and can be referred to as mysterious even. Though it’s been a while since he has released a new track, he has three coming out in the next 2 months. Check out Carny for the unique stylings of Pleasurekraft.
